Kenneth Love is a licensed and ordained Christian minister who serves at Destiny Christian Fellowship; being under the leadership of Pastor Paul E. Sheppard since 2007. He served as an Elder and Associate Pastor at Maranatha Christian Center for 10 years prior to transitioning to ALCF, then DCF. He attended and graduated from Bay Cities Bible Institute, Oakland, CA and Bethany University, Scotts Valley, CA. majoring in biblical and addiction studies.
He is the founder and Executive Director of BreakFree Ministries, providing a myriad of services for individuals, churches and organizations. He is a Licensed Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LAADC), International Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ICADC), Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC II) and Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist (ACRPS). And a former adjunct professor for Christian Institute Addiction Certification School. He is considered a specialist in the field of chemical addiction, 12-step recovery and relapse prevention. He teaches recovery education seminars, facilitates recovery workshops, in-service training, group therapy, and aftercare relapse prevention. He provides addiction counseling for individuals, couples, and families; as well as Christian pre-engagement, pre-marital, and marriage counseling.
He has preached on a San Jose community cable television channel 15A, “Outreach Unlimited” as well as being a guest speaker on "Truth Today" in Berkeley, “The Keys To Life” in Fremont and “Expect a Miracle” in San Jose where he addressed outreach, addiction and recovery issues. He has been on radio talk shows KFAX and KSFB to discuss Christian recovery.
He has been a volunteer chaplain for the Santa Clara County juvenile and adult jail system and a Correctional Institutions Chaplaincy (CIC) board member for over twenty years. He is a former board member of the California Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CCBADC) in Sacramento, which is the autonomous credentialing body of CAADAC. He was a counselor and clinical supervisor at CityTeam Ministries Recovery Center and Rescue Mission for eight years. And an addiction counselor and case manager for troubled youth and their families at Advent Group Ministries for over a decade. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, he contracted as the spiritual addiction professional with the Santa Clara County faith-based reentry program “Mission Possible” sponsored by Maranatha Christian Center, where he uses Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) counseling modalities. Between 2017 and 2021, he was the ALPHA Life Skills facilitator/teacher using the “Thinking For A Change” eight-week cycle curriculum for the Rubicon “Reentry Success Center” in Richmond, CA. His clientele being men and women ranging in age from 21 to 70 years old who are experiencing addiction and homelessness; and many recently released from jails and prisons. He has been training, teaching, and preaching throughout the US, Europe, and Third World countries for over two decades. He often uses his musical giftedness as a vocalist to usher in God's presence that softens the heart of those he would minister to, which includes the streets, jails, prisons, and institutions. He also has a real passion for discipling men who desire to follow Jesus Christ. He has been engaged in the recovery process with over 29 years of involvement in 12-Step Anonymous Fellowships. He and his wife Marsha are the parents of five adult children.
